About Salem County Women’s Services
Proudly serving Salem County, NJ with compassionate, community-based support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault since 1987.
Our Story
Serving Salem County Survivors Since 1987
Our mission is to help survivors across Salem County find safety, support, and steady guidance during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Salem County Women’s Services was created to meet the growing need for local, survivor-centered support in communities across Salem County, New Jersey. Many individuals and families facing domestic violence or sexual assault were struggling to find confidential help, practical advocacy, and coordinated community resources close to home. Since 1987, the organization has focused on providing free support through crisis intervention, shelter assistance, counseling, legal advocacy, education, and referrals while working alongside local hospitals, police departments, and community partners. That long-standing local presence continues to give survivors and families a trusted place to turn when they need support that feels accessible, practical, and human.

What You Can Expect
Confidential Support
Reaching out for help can feel intimidating, especially during a crisis or uncertain situation. Every conversation is handled with care, privacy, and respect so people can explore options safely and at their own pace.
Local Community Focus
Support feels more useful when it reflects the realities of the local community and nearby resources. Serving Salem County directly helps advocates connect people to county systems, shelters, hospitals, courts, and community organizations more efficiently.
Steady Guidance
Moments involving violence, housing instability, or legal uncertainty often leave people feeling overwhelmed and unsure what to do first. Clear next steps and survivor-centered advocacy help make difficult situations feel more manageable.
Accessible Help
People should not have to navigate complicated systems alone before they can ask for support. Free services, hotline access, referrals, counseling, and education help remove barriers that prevent people from reaching out.
Community Partnership
Long-term support depends on collaboration between local organizations, healthcare providers, schools, law enforcement, and community leaders. Working together helps strengthen the safety net available to survivors and families throughout Salem County.
A Team Focused on Supporting Families
Proudly Supporting Communities Across Salem County
Salem County Women’s Services supports adults and children throughout Salem County, including Salem, Pennsville, Carneys Point, Penns Grove, and Woodstown. Survivors often face different barriers depending on where they live, including transportation concerns, rural access challenges, housing instability, and uncertainty about where to turn for help nearby. The organization works closely with local systems and community partners to help people navigate safety planning, court preparation, shelter access, counseling support, and referrals throughout the county. That local connection helps make support feel more approachable, practical, and responsive to the realities people face every day.
SCWS also participates in community education, outreach, volunteer response programs, and collaborative advocacy efforts designed to strengthen awareness and survivor support across the county. Partnerships with healthcare providers, law enforcement agencies, schools, and local organizations help expand access to crisis support and long-term recovery resources for Salem County residents.
